Kick off the next decade with style and elegance with a sensational party. Insert the age of the guest of honor in the theme title and be sure to include this on invitations as well as throughout the room. As a game, ask trivia questions about the birth year. Find fun facts like the price of milk or gasoline, the name of the U.S. president and businesses that began during that year. Guests will get a kick out of how things have changed.
Decorating Ideas:
- Gatherings visitor Joyce Poole made this theme stunning by adhering to a white and cobalt blue color theme. Use the guest of honor’s favorite color to make the party extra special and set up a colored candy buffet. Fill jars with candy in the color (like jelly beans, M&Ms, rock candy, etc.) and send guests home with a bag of themed sweets.
- Tie in the theme color through tablecloths, centerpieces, table settings and streamers around the room.
- Use the guest of honor’s age throughout the room. Cut “60” (or other age) out of poster board and scrapbook paper for simple wall and table decor. You can even string the numbers by ribbon for a festive pennant.
Gatherings with Purpose Idea:
Create a giant-sized birthday card for nursing home residents with birthdays this month. Set out some poster board and some colorful markers, asking guests to decorate and sign them. Drop off at a local facility, to be displayed in a dining or commons area. More ideas>>
