Score a touchdown with this party theme, which is a perfect way to celebrate your favorite MVP. For a fun and personalized birthday party, use the birthday boy or girl’s favorite sport and “run with it.” Any sport can make a great theme, from basketball or soccer to lacrosse, horseback riding or even karate. Or make it a general sports theme for a sure winner!
Serve sports drinks and snacks. A cake can be made to look like a football or soccer field (sheet cake) or a baseball (round). Guests may even want to come in team colors and start a fun game of tag football, wiffle ball or kickball. Trading cards or referee whistles make simple and inexpensive favors for guests.
Decorating Ideas:
- Use sports jerseys and/or balls and nets to decorate the party area.
- Pull out team pennants or make your own out of felt or construction paper.
- Add favorite sports posters to doors and walls.
- Cover tables with green plastic tablecloths and use white tape to mark off “yard lines.”
