First Birthday Party

Print Print
First Birthday Party Celebrating your child’s first birthday is an event to remember. Be sure to schedule the party to avoid nap time and don’t make it last too long. An hour and a half is plenty.

To make the most of your time, plan ahead and have games organized and ready to go. Attendees will enjoy activities that involve pictures/memorabilia of the honoree’s first year. Baby shower activities can work well. Or use ideas from other Gatherings themes in this section.
Decorating Ideas:
  • Choosing a theme will help you coordinate your invitations, decorations, party favors, etc.
  • Think pastels. They help set the mood and put your child at ease. You can hang streamers and balloons around the party room to help set the scene.
  • Baby’s pictures make good decorations!
  • Ask each guest to bring an item to put in a time capsule for the child to open on his or her 18 birthday. It will be a fun memory of what was going on in the world when he or she turned one!
Gatherings with Purpose Idea:
  • Plant a tree seedling in honor of your little one’s big day. More ideas>>
