Blooming Friendships

Theme submitted by Carrie Davies, Indiana

International Friendship Day officially takes place each year on the first Sunday in August. Celebrate by inviting your closest friends to a get-together with the theme, “Blooming Friendships.” You could even write the details of the gathering on a seed packet, to play into the theme.

Ask each guest to bring another friend which will allow your circle of friends to grow. To celebrate Friendship Day, provide supplies for guests to make friendship bracelets or decorate pots and plant flowers. They can keep the items or give them to a friend.

Decorating Ideas:
  • Decorate with bright flowers and seed packets.
  • Scatter flower cutouts on tables and hang on walls.
  • Fresh flowers from your garden or the grocery store make lovely centerpieces. Display them in a simple vase or bucket.
Gatherings with Purpose Idea:
  • Pot plants for residents of a local nursing home to bring cheer to their day. More ideas>>
