Bubble Gum Blowing Contest
The biggest bubble wins. If you don't have a pair of calipers for measuring the bubbles, use a ruler. Hint: To blow huge bubbles, chew bubble gum with a dab of peanut butter.
Cleanup Tips!—Peanut butter also works wonders for getting bubble gum out of hair. Plus, a little butter or margarine on the face will keep the gum from sticking after the inevitable "pop!" Want to remove gum from carpeting? Harden it with an ice cube first.
-
Easter Egg Nests
Using the Rice Krispies® Marshmallow Treats recipe, mold the treats into the shape of a nest and fill with shredded green coconut and jelly bean eggs.
-
Edible Easter Basket
Color shredded coconut with green food coloring and a few drops of water. Place the shredded green coconut in an ice cream cone and add colored jelly bean eggs.
-
Egg or Water Balloon Toss
A team of two participants toss an egg or water balloon to one another. They take a step further apart with each successful toss and catch. The team members who are farthest apart when the egg or water balloon breaks during a toss win.
-
Greased Watermelon Relay Race
Take two watermelons of equal weight and lubricate them thoroughly with lard. Give one to each team of five to 10 participants. The goal is to carry the watermelon to the halfway line about 50 feet from the start/finish line and return for handoff to the next team member. The first team to finish the relay wins. If a participant drops the watermelon, he or she must return to the start/finish line and repeat the run.
-
Jack-O-Lantern JELL-O®
Slice the top off an orange and scoop out the inside of the orange. Carve eyes, nose and mouth in the orange peel so that it looks like a jack-lantern. Fill with ready-to-serve orange gelatin.
-
Pie Eating Contest
Use a one- or two-minute time limit to keep the contestants' appetites from overwhelming your supply of pies. The winner, obviously, is the contestant who devours the most pies during that period. A judge must examine each pie plate to confirm its contents have been consumed before the contestant starts on the next pie.
-
Potato Print Paper
Make your own gift-wrap for Christmas or any occasion. You will need a roll of plain white shelf paper, potatoes, foam paint brush, craft paints and paint trays. Cut a potato in half. Draw your image on the cut potato. Using a craft knife, carefully cut away the parts not needed. Remember the potato will start to deteriorate after a few hours. Pour into trays and use the foam brush to apply the paint to the potato stamp. Stamp design on shelf paper.
-
Secret Writings
Write secret messages on paper using a toothpick or Q-tip dipped in lemon juice. Hold the paper over a heat source such as a light bulb or toaster to make the writing appear.
-
